Not all Retreads Are the same
As with New tyres not all retreads are created equally, nor do they perform equally.
Never be fooled into buying solely on price. That goes for New tyre and Retread tyre brands ,If you do you will get what you pay for, which isn’t always pretty. Life cycle costing is far more effective than the initial price. You are better off paying a little more up front for the highest quality product produced.
The cost of a tyre and a retread for that matter can only be reduced by making the compounds cheaper or using less of a specific component per tyre.
All tyre brands new and retread are made by using different processes, manufacturing techniques and rubber compounds.
The best products can only be perfected over many years of constant improvement.
From its humble beginnings in Muscatine, Iowa, in 1958, Bandag expanded very rapidly all over the world, producing in excess of 9 000 000 retreaded tyres every year, at over 1100 approved factories in more than 100 countries across the globe.
In the late 60’s this process found its way to South Africa and has ever since, become synonymous with manufacturing excellence and superior quality which is also displayed by its network of over 30 independent manufacturing franchisees.
The manufacturing process, from mixing to the finished product and warehousing, has played an important part in making Bandag the undisputed leader in retreading worldwide.
Bandag SA became the first company within the Bandag group to achieve ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO26000 and OHSAS 18001 certification. With both ISO and SABS certification, you can once again rest assured that Bandag products are quality driven.
The exclusive Bandag process ensures total quality control and reliability. From the stringent testing of raw materials to final product inspection. A quality certification programme for all Manufacturing Franchisees is carried out on a bi-annual basis. The Bandag Manufacturing Excellence Programme (MEP) is used to ensure that Bandag Retreads are manufactured to Bandag’s global quality specifications on a consistent basis.
Another means to ensure that only quality products leave all Bandag Factories.
